Sustainability:Christian Science Monitor editor John Yemma breaks down the financial numbers for an online newsroom


The decision by the Christian Science Monitor to drop the daily print version will be a closely watched experiment. Len Witt of the Public Journalism Network has a timely interview with CSM editor John Yemma who gives a more detailed breakdown of what the change will do to costs:

The cost for an approximately 80-person newsroom and eight foreign bureaus would be just $7 million a year, if it were all online, and $12 million with the Friday print edition.


Now we'll see whether revenues can support CSM 2.0.
